1. What are the preferred and/or accepted items for a vendor to sell?

​

Antiques (100+ years old), Vintage (30+ years old), Collectables (ie: records, comic books, coins, postcards, glassware, etc), Primitives, Repurposed/Upcycled, Architectural Salvage, and Artisan/Handmade Items, Art (especially local art!), Books/Literature.The Owners have sole discretion on the type and number of new mass produced market items and new collectibles.

2. What items are NOT permitted?

​

Drug Paraphernalia, Firearms, Ammunition, Fireworks or Explosives, Pornographic Materials, Nazi Memorabilia, Racist Items. The Owner’s reserve the right to approve any items brought in as merchandise. If you don’t know or are unsure, just ask!

3. What types of Spaces are available for rent?

​

Booths of various sizes, locked showcases, and open shelving. 

​

4. Is electricity available in all the booths?

​

Yes, most booths have their own outlets, but electricity will be made available in every booth.

​

5. Are there walls or partitions for the booths? 

​

We do not have walls and partitions dividing the spaces but you are allowed to put your own up, as long as they do not interfere with the booth spaces next to yours. Our resident handyman can assist in the construction of booth walls if needed. Fun ideas for walls and partitions include pallets, tin, lattice, shelving, or furniture can create a border around your booth.

6. Can I paint the existing walls?

​

Yes, you are allowed to paint the permanent walls in your booth. 

​

7. Am I allowed to hang things from the ceiling, ie: lighting or signs?

​

Yes, you will need to consult with our owners on what is able to be hung and where, each booth has a different ceiling construction. Some have open wooden beams, some are covered with drywall and/or tin. The owners can answer all your questions on what the weight limits are and where there can be items hung from the ceiling. 

​

8. Are vendors required to work at the store?

​

No, Capt Cook’s Treasure Chest has its own staff for all the hours of operation. Vendors are not required to work but are encouraged to come in frequently to update their booths, change out merchandise and peruse the neighboring booths for inspiration. 

​

9. Do you do consignment?

​

Yes, we do consign some items, depending on space available. In the Vendor Form just let us know what you are interested in consigning and we will get back to you on the options. Our consignment fee is 65/35, with 65% going to the consignor and 35% going to the store. Typically consignment items might include furniture, art and handmade goods. 

​

10. How much is booth rental?

​

We have various booth sizes available, varying in price from $75 - $300/month. Locked showcases and open shelving will be available at a range of prices as well. 

​

11. Do you charge a commission of sales on top of booth rental? 

​

No, you will not be charged a commission on your sales. The only extra fee you will be responsible for is the 3% Credit Card Fee when a credit card is used to purchase your item(s). Sales tax is collected and paid by the mall. 

​

12. How high are the ceilings?

​

Ceiling heights vary depending on the room, they range from 8 foot - 15 foot. 

​

13. Do you allow customers to layaway items? 

​

Yes, there is a non refundable deposit of 20%, 30-60 days to finish payments depending on price, qualifying merchandise over $150.00 can be placed on layaway. If payments are not made in full, all payments are forfeited and non-refundable.

14. What are your Covid-19 precautions?

​

  • Miami County mandates that all businesses require mask wearing.

  • Masks will be available should a customer or vendor need one. 

  • Hand Sanitizer will be readily available throughout the store. 

  • Social Distancing of 6 feet apart is encouraged and there will be markers at the check out to help guide customers. 

  • Staff will do wellness check prior to working their shifts.

  • Frequent Handwashing encouraged for staff and customers.

  • Bathroom and high traffic areas are cleaned regularly.

15. What is your plan in case of temporary closure due to Covid-19?

​

  • Boosted Online sales via Etsy 

  • Curbside pick up will be available

  • Appointment only viewings will be available
